CAAS Hosts Showing of Echoes from The Hill
The Center for African American Studies hosted a free screening of the first episode of Echoes From the Hill on October 18, 2022. The documentary features photos, maps, documents, and excerpts from interviews with Black residents and their descendants who lived in Arlington.

Dr. Opal Lee Visits UTA
Dr. Opal Lee, the Grandmother of Juneteenth and nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize, visited UTA on April 13 2022, explaining the significance of the holiday, which commemorates June 19, 1865, when news of the federal order ending slavery in the United States reached enslaved people in Galveston, Texas.
Dr. Shelton Assists Fort Worth Museum Project
Dr. Jason Shelton assisted the City of Fort Worth on a team of nationally-recognized experts to determine feasibility for an African American museum in the city.
