Join us for a special evening as we meet and celebrate the works of influential local authors at the Center for African American Studies at the University of Texas Arlington. This event will feature discussions on notable books and their impact on African American history, culture, and identity.

Featured Authors:

  • Reby Cary: First African American Professor of History and Associate Dean of Student Life at UT Arlington. Author of Bloodlines: A Dynastical History of Blacks in Fort Worth and Tarrant County (2013).
  • Constance Hilliard, PhD: Professor of History at the University of North Texas. Author of Straightening the Bell Curve: How Stereotypes about Black Masculinity Drive Research on Race and Intelligence (2012).
  • Katrina Williams: University of Texas at Arlington Alumna (Class of 2012). Author of Memoirs of Virtue: The Evolution of a Scholar (2014).
